Expanding quality cancer care to children

In the spirit of sharing international expertise and enhancing quality health care across borders, a major grant as part of the SNF Global Health Initiative (GHI) supports the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center (KHCF/KHCC) in Jordan in expanding quality cancer care to children from the wider region who would not otherwise be able to access it.

The KHCF is the largest community-based organization in Jordan dedicated to combatting cancer and the KHCC is the leading Cancer Center in the Middle East, under the leadership of Her Royal Highness (HRH) Princess Ghida Talal, providing both adult and pediatric patients with state-of-the-art comprehensive cancer care for all types of cancer. It is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) as a disease specific cancer center – the only center in the developing world to carry such a designation. To date, KHCF/KHCC has supported thousands of patients in need, including displaced people and refugees, through their patient-centric and holistic approach to care.

Cancer care can be prohibitively expensive especially for those without medical insurance or coverage or financial means, including many refugees from the greater region who seek care in Jordan. Toward ensuring that no one is refused the comprehensive treatment they deserve, SNF is supporting the work of KHCF/KHCC to provide care to pediatric cancer patients and their families via KHCF’s Goodwill Funds, which are entirely dedicated to providing financial support to underprivileged patients who are unable to pay for their lengthy cancer treatment, in addition to covering the costs of transportation, hotel accommodations, and food coupons.
